My 2025 “accomplishments”: travelled with my 12# terrier for 1rst time on airplane (heavy on the cbd & trazadone), started my writing journey with Spike’s groups & am a regular at the memoir writing group💓, deepened friendships with a few women, turned 65!, discovered that I need daily dosing of L-Tryptophan to mellow my mood & stop saying things that i am embarrassed about afterwards🥳
I survived! Mostly a shoulder replacement (financed by worker's comp) and a car incineration and turning 65. I want to do some restorative yoga in 2026.
I accomplished a long painful 6 months of growing stronger emotionally after accepting at age 65 that I no longer have to go along with the narrative of my family to receive what turns out to be conditional love. This has been a very sad journey, and I will always have trust issues around sibling love--not knowing if it is real or performative and/or transactional. And, I also made a quilt for a dear friend battling aggressive breast cancer. :( Thank you Spike for your prompt to take time to think about yearly accomplishments. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year in 2026.
Hi Kitty. As you know, I find all of this very relatable. I’m glad we can help each other out and give each other ongoing reality checks and genuine unconditional love. Thank you so much for that. And thanks for making the time to leave a comment. Happy New Year. I hope it’s a calmer one for all of us. ♥️

Things that went right:
- got much better at asynchronous programming, and I am finding my footing after almost 2 years in a new job
- established a cadence of mental health check-ins with friends, which felt super rewarding
- finally solved a chronic health problem my cat was having

Growing a substack community has been a positive this year. Writing, summer travel, dogs.
