So sorry for the loss of those two men in your life. Please keep that title. I'm not even Gen X (I'm a Boomer), but I know when I see that title I'm in for something that will touch me on the deepest level, something I need to know but don't even know it. Something honest and full of life, however it unfolds. Then I get right to reading and end up more grounded with more compassion for all our lives. So glad I subscribed.
Hi Spike. You’re great whatever you call yourself. I do understand the occasional need for self-reappraisal, creativity, and new inventions. One of the gifts of painful childhood to those who’ve suffered from youth in ways that are hard to convey. (Yet - you manage to be so relatable; we love you because we each bear so many wounds)!
Thanks for being you. Your emotional open-door policy costs, and yet - provides a way for your immense and intentional spirit to burst forth, a treasure to so many.
You deserve to have been famous but perhaps that might of destroyed you. As Naomi Shahib Nye put it (more or less:) - You are famous to me the way a buttonhole or zipper is famous - because it never forgot what it ‘could’ do. And neither did you.
Hi Linda. Thank you so much for that. Weird gift I have to be able to put it all out there. I think having been disowned fostered this super power. Thank you for reading. I’m sorry about your wounds. And I cannot agree more—fame would have killed me. I fear I might have surrounded myself with enablers and lots and lots of drugs. So glad that didn’t happen. That NSN quote is the bomb. I love her so much.
Hi Spike, my goal is to write as eloquently as you do about the 'hard' stuff. Thank you for being a role model for this wayward Gen X crone and for sharing the 'hard' stuff. You are beautiful inside and out.

Thank you so much, Susan. I think I shall stick with the name for now.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful, hard, good thoughts, Spike. Sending you love.
Thank you Owen. I hope you and yours have gotten all settled in by now. Austin misses you so much.

I love you from the depths of my heart, Spike!
And I love you! Thank you for always reading.

Hi Claire. Thank you. I’d say you’re eloquent AF my dear. The hard stuff is so freaking hard. I am so grateful I have a place to put it.
I like the name but the phrase Spike Surmises just popped into my head :)
