My two late friends that I've written about, the psychiatrist and my mad friend Jim, both loooooooved Christmas. I've been having wacky solstice dreams, very vivid, and in last night's dream, I saw both of them at the dream cafe where they've been hanging out since they died, and I felt a very weird longing on their part to be back just for Christmas, but also pride at watching the people they loved go on? Now I'm mushy again, ack!

I’m so glad you get to visit them at the dream cafe! I’ve seen a couple of dog Christmas videos that made me feel a little mushy. WHAT is going on? Hahahaha

That little baby in the stocking is adorable.

I confess I'm not quite at your level of angst re Christmas. I'm at more of a 'meh' level. But the joy I felt on the morning of Dec 26 as I geared up to start clearing away the few Christmas items I had deigned to put out this year - that was some JOY, baby!

It's a bad Christmas for me here in filthadelphia...between devils pocket and forgotten bottom in grays ferry ( map it).... In a nasty set of row homes built for the poorest of factory workers I work my 40 hours ,stacking bananas for the public at the "Fresh Grocer" . But a beautiful surprise occured when I got to page 81 of "Grok This, Bitch"..... You mentioned me and my Austin business. I am now smiling bright , like a star in the east.

Hooray!! Glad you got the book. I know I’m being nostalgic but it’s also true—Austin in the 90s was out of this world amazing. And what a big part of that you were!

Jim Fritzler, my Austin theatre director( other than Amparo Garcia) sent me a copy.... I spent a night on the porch of the o Henry when I was "homeless" for a day or so for the 64 beds homeless event you might remember from those 90s

I am so pleased you are so pleased! And yay Jim Fritzler! What a mensch he is. Last time we saw each other in person we sat together at Jo Carole’s funeral.

Like you, I'm allergic to this effing holiday. One of my older clients is alone, most of the time, so we're cooking some delicious food and taking it to her place. Picked some comedy to watch, too. Maybe pretending it's her birthday would help. I hate how much my soul wants to avoid this time of year, but it does.
