Think- taking time off to get educated in a more lucrative skill, taking a job that initially pays lower, but has a more longer term upsides, etc. UBI allows people to pass through these income valleys, coming out the other side in a better economic state. From the societal point of view, this allows society to gain the benefit of someone being more productive, increasing overall GDP. Sounds like win/win to me.
